Compact Design for Bi-Polarization Quantum Routers on SOI Platform

An ultra-compact optical quantum router (QR) consisting of a Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI) and waveguide tapers is proposed numerically simulated, using silicon-on-insulator (SOI). The designed to work at the center wavelength 1550 nm with visibilities 99.65% 98.80% for TE TM polarizations, respectively. Using principle phase compensation self-image, length shortened by an order magnitude transmission above 95% both polarizations. Furthermore, polarization beam splitters (PBS) footprint 1.4 × 10.4 μm2 transmissions 98% bi-polarizations are achieved introducing anisotropic metamaterials. simulated results indicate that facilitates low loss, broad operating spectral range, large tolerance size variation in fabrications. switch possesses routing function while maintaining states, which promises pave point-to-point BB84 protocol into applications network-based communication.
